ECEG Workshop on Sustainable Development in Stockholm, Sweden

Within the framework of the European Sustainable Development week, the ECEG supported by its members BAVC and IKEM organised a workshop in Stockholm, Sweden.

Mr Jack de Bruijn, director of risk management at ECHA exchanged openly with 18 participants on achievements of REACH over the last two years as well as the challenges ahead. Moreover, he touched upon ECHA’s ongoing activities in the area of sustainable chemicals management. REACH and CLP had brought benefits to everyone he claimed while presented an ECHA study on their impact on industry’s sustainability strategies. Mr Hartwig Wendt, sustainability manager at Cefic, promoted to support ECHA in its goal to strive for success. Furthermore, Cefic’s latest sustainability report and charter would be published in October 2017 during its Chemical Convention. Finally, national good practices were presented by ECEG members Jyrki Hollmén from Finnish Kemianteollisuus, Eric Firtion, expert on plant-based chemistry from French UIC, and German social partners Gertraud Lauber, IGBCE, and Andreas Ogrinz, BAVC, on Chemie3.

The workshop was preceded by ECEG’s Steering Committee meeting: members discussed ECEG’s internal affairs, governance, and latest developments in EU social policy and SSDC.
