On 5 March, the European Commission organised a High-Level Conference in Brussels on "A new start for social dialogue".
The conference was attended by Commission President Juncker, European Parliament President Schultz, Vice-President Dombrovskis, Commissioner Thyssen and on behalf of the Council Presidency, the Latvian Minister of Welfare Uldis Augulis. The conference also gathered leaders of European and national employers’ and workers’ organisations and signals the Commission’s and Commission President Juncker’s intent to further involve social partners in shaping European policy.
ECEG, alongside other sectoral and cross-sectoral social partners, were invited. At the high-level event, ECEG was able to talk to the Commissioner on Employment, Ms Thyssen, and present our current working programme, as well as the newsletter (with the latest updates from members) to her.
